Alexandra Park is quiet in the winter months but offers a beautiful westward view toward the ocean and mountains.
Although not much to look at with only an inaccessible gazebo and trees and flowers, the park offers a few things that may interest locals and tourists.
On the edge bordering Pacific Street, there are rows of benches which look out over top of the English Bay caf and into the ocean which is an amazing view which however, comes at the cost of a road between it. However, this is prime territory in the summer if you want somewhere a little quieter to sit instead of fighting for space on the beach. Many people also bring picnics and blankets to have a quieter and shadier place to enjoy a warm summer day in the west end while still having access to the amenities of the beach such as the cafe's, restaurants and Denman Street.
The best kept secret in this pocket park are the variety of bands that play in the gazebo (otherwise known as the Haywood Bandstand) during the summer for anyone who would like a free show, from brass to military, many bands have played here every Sunday in the summer months to the enjoyment of many. If you have a free Sunday in the summer, come to this park and enjoy some wonderful music in the shade.
