2010 Dragon Boat Events and Festivals in Vancouver

All year long visitors and locals in Vancouver can see the large Dragon Boats slicing through the waters of False Creek and English Bay, all in preparation for the summer's many Dragon Boat races! Come down to Vancouver's Dragon Zone located near Science World on False Creek where racers drive hard for the finish line! See the FCRCC Spring Regatta, False Creek Women's Regatta and the 22nd Annual Rip Tinto Alcan happening in May and June!

The approach of Summer means the return of Dragon Boat racing! There are several events with local and visiting Dragon Boat teams happening this weekend and in the coming weeks in False Creek's Dragon Zone which is located 100 metres south of Science World!

  • Dragonboat Racing is an amazing high speed spot involving large     teams and can be seen in Vancouver's False Creek in the summer.FCRCC SPRING REGATTA | May 15th | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Creekside Park / Science World (map) | Free | Cheer on the Dragon Boat racers as they make their way to the 500m finish line and see this amazing activity in action!

  • FALSE CREEK WOMEN'S REGATTA | May 29th | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Creekside Park / Science World (map) | Free | A regatta with women in mind: contestants put it all on the line, race hard (500m), have fun and support other women's teams in their quest for speed, fitness and power! | Website

  • 22ND ANNUAL RIO TINTO ALCAN | June 19th & 20th | 8:00am - 6:00pm | Entrances at: 1455 Quebec Street (map) / Concord Pacific Place at Quebec & Pacific Avenue (map) | Free | This festival starts on the 18th at 5:00pm with the traditional blessing of the Dragon Boats and kicks off on the 19th with races at 8:00am and festivities following. Cheer on your favourite team and then enjoy live music (including traditional drumming), a market place, cooking competition, food and activities for the whole family! | Website
