2011 Asian Heritage Month

British Columbia's rich Asian heritage can be seen throughout the province, from Canada's oldest Chinatown in Vancouver and oldest settlement in the gold rush town of Barkerville and to their contributions to the construction of the trans-Canada railroad. Asian culture can be found throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland and is celebrated throughout the year with festivals and annual events such as Chinese New Year, Cherry blossom festivals, markets and more. In Canada, the month of May is Asian Heritage Month and the region will offer several events and activities celebrating Asian history and culture. Also, be sure to explore some of the region's unique Asian attractions.
