Bard on the Beach 2010, Vanier Park, Vancouver

Bard on the Beach is an experience unlike any other in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia. Every summer, the large white and red tents make an appearance in Vanier Park bringing Shakespeare to the shores of English Bay with the backdrop of the North Shore Mountains. Last year we attended our first performance of 'A Comedy of Errors' - which was both spectacular and unforgettable and we are excited about attending a performance this year! Come see one of the four plays (or all of them!) as well as their special events at the 21st season of Bard on the Beach!

Bard on the Beach is a popular not-for-profit Shakespeare Festival running June 3rd to September 25th in Vanier Park, Vancouver, British ColumbiaOn June 3rd marks the opening the Bard on the Beach which celebrates its 21st season in 2010. Running until September 25th, Bard on the Beach is one of Canada's largest not-for-profit Shakespeare festival located in Vanier Park in Vancouver, British Columbia (map) which offers spectacular shows against the backdrop of the North Shore mountains. So, buy a ticket, come see one of these spectacular shows and enjoy this years featured plays:

  • MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING | June 12 - September 25 | Romance and matchmaking abound when the men return from war.
  • ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA | June 16 - September 24 | Passion, war and betrayal erupt in this romantic tragedy. Cleopatra has conquered the heart of Rome's greatest soldier, Mark Antony must choose between duty and desire.
  • FALSTAFF (HENRY IV, PARTS I & II) | July 1 - September 22 | Into England ripped apart by civil war strides Sir John Falstaff, Shakespeare's endearing comedic rogue. King Henry IV and Falstaff engage in an unforgettable struggle for the heart and mind of the future Henry V.
  • HENRY V | July 14 - September 24 | King Henry V has recently come to the throne and he sets out to conquer his enemy, Bard on the Beach in Vanier Park,
Vancouver, British Columbia is a
celebration of William Shakespeare's plays.discovering within himself the vision and leadership to inspire a nation.

  • OPERA AND ARIAS: LA BOHEME | August 30 and September 6 | The UBC Opera Ensemble and the Vancouver Opera Orchestra bring its four Opera and Arias performances - this year Bard on the Beach presents La Boheme one of the opera world's most popular romantic stories.

You can buy tickets online on the here or at the box office (301-601 Cambie Street, Vancouver - 10:00am to 4:00pm: map). Tickets range between $18.75 to $38.00. You can also purchase a Bard Pack (which includes all four plays) for $139. Bard on the Beach also offers special events such as Chor Leoni, Shakespeare 101, Shakespeare Forum, Lecture Series, Bard-B-Q & Fireworks, Celebrating Red & White and the Opera and Arias. It is highly suggested to see at least one show as the experience is magical!
