Brandywine Meadows Trail: Whistler, British Columbia

British Columbia's extensive network of trails offer adventurous hikers spectacular opportunities to explore the regions beautiful wilderness. Case in point, Brandywine Meadows. This strenuous 3.5 kilometre (one way) trail takes hikers through the lush green temperate rain forests and along thundering glacial waterfalls to a large alpine meadow high above Whistler, British Columbia. In late summer and early fall, Brandywine Meadow is best known for its flowers and its picturesque mountain scenery and awe inspiring views makes it a popular hike from July to October.

  • Brandywine Meadows tail leads to an alpine meadow near Whistler, British Columbia.LOCATION: Whistler, British Columbia - From the Sea to Sky Highway turn west onto Callaghan Valley Road. Take the first left. The road will merge with a BC Forest Service gravel road. The trail head is at the end (map).
  • DISTANCE: 3.5km one way
  • TIME: Allow 5 hours
  • POINTS OF INTEREST: Brandywine Meadows at the end of the trail offers a spectacular view of alpine meadows and mountain peaks. In late summer, flowers bloom across the meadow. Hikers can continue along the trail up into the mountains past glacial waterfalls to the snowline or further. On clear days. hikers looking east can see the Black Tusk.
  • OTHER INFORMATION: The gravel road to the Brandywine Meadows trail head is very rough with large potholes, steep hills and sharp rocks. Drive carefully. The trail head starts at the wooden sign. Fallen logs and muddy conditions are hazards encountered along the trail. Follow the orange trail markers at all times. Also, be sure to bring plenty of water, sturdy hiking boots, flashlights and be sure to stay on the trail at all times.
