2011 Earth Hour in Vancouver

This Saturday, March 26, 2011, is Earth Hour. This grassroots event has grown exponentially since its inaugural celebration in 2002 and is now a worldwide initiative to draw attention to climate change which sees people, business and cities turning out the lights from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Vancouver and British Columbia will be participating in a big way for 2011 with many of its iconic landmarks turning off or dimming their lights such as Science World and Canada Place. Participate in Earth Hour 2011 events across the Lower Mainland or light up some candles and watch British Columbia go dark!

Turn out the lights for one hour on March 26, 2011 at 8:30pm in celebration of Earth Hour! Join thousands of British Columbians and people from around the World on March 26th as they turn off and dim the lights for Earth Hour 2011:

Earth Hour in Vancouver will see many of its iconic landmarks dimmed down including the Lion's Gate Bridge, Canada Place, Science World, the Bloedel Floral Conservatory and other buildings across the city participate in the event to draw attention to how energy can be wasted. Participants can also start at home by turning off the lights and using candles during Earth Hour. Many restaurants across Vancouver will also be offering Earth Hour candlelit dining and sustainable menus from 8:30pm - 9:30pm.
