2010 Olympic Experience: Evening Events

Looking for something interesting to do in the evenings? Want to see some spectacular Vancouver architecture lit up with nightly light shows? Throughout the City there are several events and shows that highlight the architectural and natural beauty of the region and found in different boroughs of Vancouver such as False Creek and the Burrard Inlet.

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia will bring many fun events highlighting the beauty, architecture and creativity in the region. Several nightly shows and events can be enjoyed throughout the City (most are free except for the Victory Ceremonies) offering visually spectacular events for all ages and interests to enjoy!

Several evening events can be enjoyed throughout Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

  • LASER WATERWORKS SHOW [Location: on False Creek beside LiveCity Yaletown in David Lam Park at Pacific Street between Homer and Drake Streets] Times: February 12-28: At the conclusion of all entertainment events (before 11:00pm)* (*approx) | Information: Pipes shower water over False Creek which are lit up with projected designs and colours in a nightly light show culminating the evenings events at LiveCity Yaletown.

  • VECTORIAL ELEVATION [Location: The searchlights are lined up along the mouth of False Creek from Burrard Bridge to English Bay] Times: February 4-28: Dawn to dusk daily. | Information: Using a three-dimensional interface, Vectorial Elevation allows individuals to design light sculptures using twenty searchlights To create your design, go to CODE.

  • SAILS OF LIGHT [Location: On the five sails of Canada Place] Hours: Dusk to Dawn (5:00pm - 8:00am) | Information: Sails of Light presents the 'Look of the Games' blending colour, animation, imagery and texture presented on the five sails of Canada Place.

  • ICE LIGHT [Location: The Vancouver City Hall at Cambie Street and 12th Avenue] Times: Every hour on the hour | Information: The Vancouver City Hall has gotten a eco-friendly face lift with LED lights which resemble ice on the edges of the building.
  • NIGHTLY VICTORY CEREMONIES (MEDAL AWARD) [Location: Inside BC Place] Hours: February 12-28: 6:30pm - 10:00pm* (*approx) | Information: Olympic medals for the days events are handed out with a performance and a Provincial/Territorial celebration.
