Little People Fire Hydrant Art in Quesnel, British Columbia

Known as the Gold Pan City, Quesnel, British Columbia is also home to the Little People art project which transforms the Downtown's twenty-three fire hydrants into one of a kind artworks depicting characters from Quesnel's cultural and historic past. Stretch your legs or spend a day enjoying the 4.9 kilometre route which celebrates the region's rich and interesting past with colourful depictions of rodeo clowns to bandits to movie starts and historic figures!

The Voyager celebrates the Northwest Company explorer, Alexander Mackenzie was the first European to stop here on June 21, 1793.The City of Quesnel is located in Northern British Columbia in the Cariboo region is known as the Gold Pan City as many lucky folks struck it rich in the region during the The Native Mother honours the people
of the Chentait'hala nation
who once lived in the Quesnel region.The Banker symbolizes the first bank that opened in Quesnel which was the Northern Crown Bank.Cariboo Gold Rush. This heritage rich city celebrates it history and some of its founding residents through the Fire Hydrant Art Project, Quesnel's Little People.

Visitors to Quesnel can take this interesting, artistic and informative walk which features 23 fire hydrants painted to represent characters from the city's historic and cultural past. Beginning at the City Hall building (410 Kinchant Street at the corner of St. Laurent Avenue) and ending at the Quesnel Visitors Centre (703 Carson Avenue at Vaughan Street), the Little People spread through fifteen blocks with its 4.9 kilometre (3 miles) route. Quesnel's Little People tell a story about this unique British
Columbia city in British Columbia's Cariboo Region.

Quesnel's Little People range from the humorous to the interesting to odd including a Bandit named Bill Miner, a Rodeo Clown honouring the town's first rodeo in 1966, Judge Begbie who was referred to as the Hanging Judge but who actually issued few hangings and even a Card Dealer to symbolize gambling and its popularity during the Gold Rush in Quesnel and nearby Barkerville.
