National Aboriginal Day 2010 in British Columbia

Canada’s National Aboriginal Day is held annually on June 21st to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of the nation’s Aboriginal peoples. National Aboriginal Day is a great opportunity to become acquainted with the cultural diversity of Inuit, Métis and First Nations peoples. Come celebrate British Columbia's First Nations people and their contributions to Canada from arts to dance to language and to history!

  • ABORIGINAL DAY AT FORT LANGLEY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE | June 19th - 21st | 10:00am - 5:00pm | Fort Langley National Historic Site, 23433 Mavis Avenue, Fort Langley (map) | Free - $7.50 | Celebrate the key role that First Nations communities played in the history of Fort Langley.   • NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY AND SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION | June 21st | 5:30pm - 10:00pm | K'omoks Band Hall, 3320 Comox Road, Comox (map) | Free | Join the K'omoks First Nation for a welcome dance ceremony, see a gallery with aboriginal artwork and a concert. A variety of foods will be available for purchase. | Website

You can also check out some of British Columbia's significant First Nations museums and sites such as the Museum of Anthropology and Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in Vancouver, drive along the scenic Sea to Sky Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Journey between West Vancouver to Pemberton, visit the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler and the Xá:ytem Longhouse Interpretive Centre in Mission.
