Day Trip to Steveston Village Photos, Richmond

The Village of Steveston located in Richmond's most south-west corner where the Fraser River meets the Strait of Georgia is a quaint former fishing and canning village with a rich history. One of the most beautiful villages in British Columbia, the old buildings, small town charm and delicious fresh seafood bring locals and visitors alike to its streets to explore its attrations, its restaurants and its beautiful windswept parks and walkways. This weekend we paid a visit to this spectacular town and took lots of photos of this stunning must-see locale - a perfect day trip for all ages!

The Fishing industry is still one of the biggest in Steveston with a fleet of over 600 vessels docked along the shores of the Fraser River in Richmond, British Columbia.

The Village of Steveston in Richmond, British Columbia is a beautiful locale situated at the mouth of the Fraser River. Its Museum, Garry Point Park, gardens, Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, Fisherman's wharf, boardwalk and nearby Britannia Heritage Shipyard provide the opportunity to explore the history of this unique Village. A perfect day trip, this south-western Richmond gem is a perfect place to taste some of the best seafood in the province, learn about the area's canning and fishing industries or just to enjoy its small town charm and spectacular locale throughout the year. Here are some photos from our own day trip experience down to this beautiful seaside Village on the mouth of the Fraser River.

Visitors to Steveston Village can enjoy a number
of restaurants serving a wide variety of seafood from fish and chips to
salmon skewers.

There is plenty of fresh seafood to buy - both fresh of the boat
and in the dozens of restaurants in the village of Steveston in
Richmond, British Columbia.

Steveston's fishing fleet provides fresh fish for locals as well as restaurants. These beautiful boats can be spotted along many of the waterways surrounding this little Village.

Evidence of Steveston's canning history can be seen throughout the
Village through murals, heritage sites and the vast fishing fleet.

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is a great place to learn about Steveston's rich fishing and canning history in Richmond, British Columbia.

The attention to detail in the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in Steveston provides visitors with an amazing experience into the British Columbia canning industry.

The Britannia Heritage Shipyard is a ten minute walk from Steveston Village and is home to boat restoration and exhibits.

The bunkhouses which were built to represent how canning employees lived provide a unique learning experience at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard.

Located on the marshy banks of the Fraser River, the Britannia Heritage Shipyard and its old buildings are a great place to learn how Steveston's fishing fleet was maintained.

The small touches are what truly make Steveston's Britannia Heritage Shipyard an interesting experience along the shores of the Fraser River.
