Pavilions and Activities for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games

From March 12th to the 21st, Vancouver will host the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games celebrating athletes from around the World who take to the slopes and ice for their respective countries. Visitors can enjoy many different Pavilions and activities throughout the City during the Games including Olympic favourites such as the Royal Canadian Mint Pavilion and the Robson Street Zip Line as well as live sites in both Vancouver and Whistler.

The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games logo symbolizes the sky, mountains and ground of British Columbia's landscape.March 12th is the opening of the 2010 Paralympic Games which celebrates athletes from across the globe participating in dozens of events between March 12th to the 21st. Vancouver, British Columbia will host several venues that showcase Canada, its Provinces and Territories as well as pavilions and activities for all ages:

  • ROYAL CANADIAN MINT PAVILION [Location: Vancouver Public Library at 350 West Georgia Street] Hours: March 12-21; Mon-Thurs: 10:00am - 9:00pm; Fri-Sat: 10:00am - 6:00pm; Sun: 12:00pm - 5:00pm | Information: This Pavilions now based in the Vancouver Public Library returns due to popular demand. The Royal Canadian Mint is the official supplier of the medals for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games and the pavilion showcases some of the Mint's collections, how the medals were made and their unique design as well as allowing visitors to touch them for the first time in Olympic history.

  • DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER ZIP LINE [Location: The zip line is set up starting from the Law Courts between Robson and Smithe Streets to the north and south and Howe and Hornby Streets to the east and west.] Hours: March 12-21: 10:00am - 9:00pm | Information: Returning due to popular demand, Ziptrek Ecotours - a company which specializes in zip lines has set up this 170 meter zip line which careens over one of the City's most well known streets, over the GE Ice Plaza and stops at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

  • CANADA PAVILION [Location: LiveCity Downtown at the corner of W. Georgia and Cambie Streets in Larwell Park] Hours: March 12: 4:00pm - 7:00pm; March 13-14, 18-21: 1:00pm - 9:00pm | Information: The Canadian Pavilion offers a fun experience The 2010 Olympic Mascots are Miga the Sea Bear, Quatchi the Sasquatch, or Sumi, the Thunderbird and Mukmuk their friend.through interactive games and activities as well as Canadian and Paralympic trivia and history
  • CANADA'S NORTHERN HOUSE [Location: 602 West Hastings Street (at Seymour Street)] Hours: March 1-31: 10:00am - 5:00pm | Information: Canada's Northern House explores the untamed wilds of the North, its people and its arts and culture through events, interactive activities, information, displays and shows.

  • CENTRE PLACE MANITOBA [Location: LiveCity Downtown at the corner of W. Georgia and Cambie Streets in Larwell Park] Hours: March 12: 4:00pm - 7:00pm; March 13-14, 18-21: 1:00pm - 9:00pm | Information: Centre Place Manitoba will feature exhibits promoting tourism, business, immigration and sport and will highlight the province's prosperity, opportunity and potential.

  • OLYMPIC STREET CAR [Location: The Streetcar runs between the Olympic Station on the Canada Line to Granville Island] Hours: March 12-21: 6:30am to 12:30am | Information: The streetcar has returned with two Bombardier Streetcars borrowed from Brussels, Belgium set to run a 1.8 kilometre route between Granville Island and the Canada Line

  • BC PAVILLION [Location: Inside the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) at Hornby and Robson Streets beside the Olympic Clock] Hours: March 12-28: 10:00am - 5:00pm | Information: The BC Pavilion will focus on the host Province's rich cultural heritage, arts and local talent with entertainment, ice skating at the GE Ice Plaza and displays highlighting The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games celebrates athletes competing in a variety of sports.British Columbia's industry and tourism themed 'You Gotta Be Here'.

  • BC HYDRO POWER SMART VILLAGE [Location: The Village is on Dunsmuir Street between Homer and Hamilton] Hours: March 12-21: 10:00am - 6:00pm | Information: The BC Hydro Power Smart Village is the unofficial sustainability hub for the 2010 Games - visitors can tour an energy-efficient Home of the Future, cheer on athletes as the Games are broadcast live and create electricity - literally - on the sustainable dance floor.

  • LIVECITY DOWNTOWN [Location: LiveCity Downtown is located on West Georgia and Dunsmiur Street between Cambie and Beatty Streets in Larwill Park.] Times: March 12-14 and March 18-21: 1:00pm - 9:00pm | Information: LiveCity Downtown is a free celebration locale for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. Visitors can watch the games on a giant screen (showing both the Games and highlights of the Cultural Olympiad).

  • WHISTLER LIVE! [Location: Various areas through Whistler Village (map)] Times: March 12-21: 9:00am - 11:00pm | Information: Whistler Live! (Schedule) is where the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games come to life with a fusion of sport, art and entertainment.

Cheer on Canada and the World during the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games which celebrates athletes competing in a wide range of sports between March 12th to the 21st.
