Victoria Day Long Weekend 2010 in British Columbia

For Canadians, May means Victoria Day (usually referred to as May Long Weekend) which celebrates the birthday of former British Monarch, Queen Victoria. The date was recognized as a celebration in Canada as far back as 1845 and was usually observed on May 24th until in 1977 when it was moved permanently to the Monday before May 24th. Today, the long weekend kicks off the beginning of summer with many events throughout the Lower Mainland.
