Road Trip through Washington's Olympic Peninsula

Looking for a fantastic road trip in North America? Check out Washington States Olympic Peninsula which weaves along the Pacific Ocean, up mountains, through coastal rain forests, alongside National Historic Sites, Lighthouses, points of interest and State and National Parks. This weekend along with a trip to the Norwegian Syttende Mai (Constitution Day) festivities on Monday we drove along this gorgeous stretch of roadway - here are some photos!

This past weekend we got the opportunity to take a spontaneous road trip along Washington, USA's picturesque Olympic Peninsula while in the area to check out the Norwegian May 17th Syttende Mai celebration. Whether you love beaches, historic towns, spectacular views - or, ifHere's a map of the road we took to get to the Olympic Peninsula
in Washington, USA with scenic drives, stops and a ferry ride! Larabee State Park's impressive tide pools and rock formations made an interesting stop along Chuckanut Drive in Washington, USAyou're just a Twilight fan, this is one road trip you should put on your list!

Here are some photos we took along the way from the border and to the festival we attended in Seattle!

We saw plenty
of black-tailed deer along the roadways throughout the Olympic Peninsula

We drove over and explored Deception Pass in Washington, USA,
named by Capitan George Vancouver when he was fooled into thinking it
was a channel instead of an island!

The views of Deception Pass in Washington, USA were fantastic! Here is the view east (you can see Mount Baker too)!Fort Ebey State Park in Washington, USA was just breathtaking! We hunted for pretty rocks and overturned rocks to find interesting crabs!

The windy shoreline in Fort Ebey State Park in Washington, USA was perfect for kite flying!

We stopped in Coupeville, Washington, USA for dinner before we crossed over on the Keystone Ferry to Port Townsend - here is the fascinating wharf!

We drove up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park in Washington, USA - the views were fantastic!

We also happened to see our very first Marmots at Olympic National Park, Washington, USA

We stayed the night in Twilight Central (also known as the Logging Capital of the World), Forks, Washington, USA

Plenty of Twilight in the town! Tours, shops and lots more to see in Forks, Washington, USA!

We also checked out La Push and the Quileute reservation in Washington, USA - this is a fisherman going back to the docks!

There were plenty of barking sea lions at La Push, Washington, USA - including these one which were kissing!

Stunning Raitlo Beach in Washington, USA across from La Push was a great walk along stunning coastline!

Its not hard to see why this romantic windswept beach made a great place to write about (Railto Beach, Washington, USA).

We made it back to Ballard, Washington, USA in plenty of time to enjoy Norwegian food and the fantastic parade!

This clever 'fire breathing' viking ship was one of the many interesting things we saw during the Norwegian parade in Ballard, Washington, USA

The gorgeous handmade traditional dresses were a source of pride for Ballard, Washington's Norwegian community!

Even the dogs got into the Norwegian spirit at the Norwegian parade in Ballard, Washington, USA
