Located on the eastern edge of Downtown Vancouver, General Motors Place is a popular venue offering events and concerts as well as being home to the local National Hockey League team, the Vancouver Canucks. This arena will have the eyes of the world on it as February 2010 brings the Winter Olympics to the city and it will be the site of the Ice Hockey Games where Canada hopes to win its first gold medal on home ice.

Nicknamed the 'Garage' and 'GM Place', General Motors Place was officially opened September 21, 1995 measuring 475,000 square feet and seating over 18,000 people in its amphitheatre-like setting.

General Motors Place is home to the Vancouver Canucks, the City's National Hockey League team. Thousands of fans pack the arena during the hockey season to cheer on the Canucks and during the off-season it has hosted concerts by the Spice Girls, Bryan Adams, Janet Jackson, AC/DC, Metallica, Kiss and many more as well as events such as the World Skating Championships and a ceremonial puck dropping by Queen Elizabeth II. Individuals can also take guided tours of GM Place for a behind the scenes experience to check out the arena, ice, changing rooms and the operations that make every event memorable.

During the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, GM Place will host all ice hockey events and team Canada will attempt to win its first Olympic Gold on home ice. Due to corporate sponsoring rules on venues it will be temporarily renamed the Canada Hockey Place for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

One of Vancouver's most beloved venues, General Motors Place is somewhere to explore, enjoy and watch the City's favourite team thrash the competition.
