Where regularly fish would have jumped over the obstacles that were in their way, this was not the case in North Vancouver. With the construction of the Cleveland Dam for the reservoir project, the fish were not finding the calm waters they used to, and now, the impenetrable concrete wall divided them. With some ingenuity, the Fish Hatcheries was created and adult fish 'climb' through a series of waterfalls into a calm tank which simulates the calm waters needed to properly spawn and lay their eggs.
