Gnawed Tree at Beaver Lake, Stanley Park

Image from Beaver Lake activity in Things to do in Stanley Park

This large lake encompasses a hike around its edge with many varieties of birds, interior forests, marshes and its namesake, the Beaver - the gnawed tree trucks and its lodge evidence of its activities.

Beaver lake, as named, was not occupied for a long time due to their hunting when Vancouver was fist settled. The species has staged a comeback in Stanley Park as species further up the Burrard Inlet who had the misfortune of being caught in the saline ocean environment were forced to come ashore and found Beaver Lake, where one of two beavers in the Park currently resides.
