Ducks Along the Shore of Beaver Lake, Stanley Park

Image from Beaver Lake activity in Things to do in Stanley Park

Beaver Lake teems with dozens of bird species, taking advantage of this rare interior water space in the middle of the city. Mallard Ducks are prominent in the lake as they nest and rest along its shore throughout the year.

Mallard Ducks are some of the most prominent species seen in Stanley Park. Recognizable by the dulled colour of the females, such as the ones in the photo above, to ensure camouflage during the nesting season, and the bright colours associated with the males which includes the bright green feathered head, brown and white body with an indigo strip on their wings.
