Cleveland Dam was named for Ernest Albert Cleveland, the first Chief Commissioner of the Greater Vancouver Water District.

The plaque which is located along the walkway on the Cleveland Dam shows a bronze cast and the name Ernest Albert Cleveland, the first Chief Commissioner of the Greater Vancouver Water District for whom the Dam was named for.
