Fish Leaping in Ladder at Capilano Fish Hatchery, North Vancouver

Image from Capilano Fish Hatcheries activity in Things to do in North Vancouver

Visitors can watch throughout the year at the Capilano Fish Hatcheries the Coho, Chinook and Steelhead jumping through the waterfall and into the concrete holding tanks behind to struggle up to the spawning tanks beyond to hatch a new generation of fish.

Throughout the year, the Coho, Chinook and Steelhead swim up the Capilano River to spawn at the Capilano Fish Hatcheries. Though swimming upriver is difficult, these fish must also jump up a series of concrete tanks to get to the spawning tank at the end.
