Gassy Jack Shadowed by Maple Trees, Gastown

This picture of Gassy Jack also shows the leaves of the overhanging Maple Tree, most likely a decedent of the tree that the first pioneers sat under when they decided the name for the city of Vancouver.

The name for the City of Vancouver was chosen near where the Gassy Jack statue now rests today, not far from the globe saloon owned by Jack Deighton. The trees above are most likely ancestors of the ones that currently shade the statue today.
