The Heritage Building Plaque Reads: Hastings Mill Store As a survivor of the Great Fire of 1886, the Hastings Mill Store is Vancouver's Oldest Building. It was built in 1865 as the General Store for the Hastings Sawmill Company at the foot of Dunlevy Street near Gastown. This was also Vancouver's first post office and later served as a library and community centre. In 1930 the building was floated to this site and the Native Daughter of British Columbia opened it as a museum in honour of the Province's first pioneers.
