In 2008 the city of Vancouver was buffeted by hurricane force winds causing massive damage to the region. Most affected was Stanley Park where thousands of trees were toppled or irreparably damaged. Among these was the famous Hollow Tree in which visitors for the last one hundred years have had their photo taken, accentuating the enormity of the tree.
