Istken (Traditional Dwelling) Outside Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre, Whistler

Outside of the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre is the Istken, a traditional Lil'wat Pit House which as a unique cone shaped roof which is warm in the winter and cool in the summer and was usually entered by a ladder through the smoke hole in the roof, making it easy to defend (but had a hidden side entrance for children and the elderly).
