Only Policeman to Die on New West Police Force, New Westminster

In the over one hundred and twenty-five years of policing in the city of New Westminster, only one office has ever died on duty - Bert Mapson - in an unfortunate boat accident on the Fraser River. He is remembered and honoured in the New Wesminster Police Museum.
