Railway Statue from the Canadian Chinese Monument, Chinatown

Image from Canadian Chinese Monument activity in Things to do in Chinatown Vancouver

This statue represents the thousands of Chinese labourers who worked to build the Canadian Pacific Railroad, linking the east and west coasts.

The Monument to the Canadian Chinese in Chinatown Vancouver has two statues. This one is dedicated to those who forged a Canadian identity in the building of the railway that stretched from the Atlantic tot the Pacific. This hard and often deadly work resulted in the death of hundreds of immigrants who could find little other work.
