Wood Heron Wing Roof at the Richmond Oval, Richmond

One of the Richmond Oval's most impressive design features is the wood roof shaped in the likeness of a heron's wing. Built with wood harvested from trees devastated by pine beetles, the roof uses material that would have not normally been used. The beams running along the wood wave roof also contain hundreds of dehumidifiers which kept the ice from being damaged by external sources during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
