This enormous root system of a hemlock tree is over two meters high. With its enormous bulk and shallow root system, this tree eventually fell prey to gravity when the 2006 Windstorms battered the old trees in Stanley Park, uprooting them. These giant roots can be seen all throughout the park as a reminder of the terrible storms that lashed the West Coast.
