Pulled up Roots from 2006 Windstorm, Stanley Park

Image from 2006 Windstorm activity in Things to do in Stanley Park

This gigantic stump is all that remains of a giant tree that had stood in the Park for a hundred years, destroyed by the 2006 Windstorms.

This enormous root system of a hemlock tree is over two meters high. With its enormous bulk and shallow root system, this tree eventually fell prey to gravity when the 2006 Windstorms battered the old trees in Stanley Park, uprooting them. These giant roots can be seen all throughout the park as a reminder of the terrible storms that lashed the West Coast.
