Tree Growing on Dead Stump, Stanley Park

It is hard to believe, but this little tree is a top a stump which is approximately three stories high. This seedling managed to grow on the top of this log with unlimited sunlight, maximizing its growth potential. Only time will tell if this seedling will be able to survive the sometimes harsh West Coast climate.
