The largest body of water at VanDusen Gardens, Heron Lake is home to insects, fish and even occasional turtles and is surrounded by meadows and gardens.

Heron Lake, a large man-made body of water sits on the north-western side of the VanDusen Gardens offering a home to carp, turtles, frogs and insects as well as ducks, geese and herons. Its nearby meadow is an ideal picnic or rest spot for visitors to the gardens.
