Victoria Cross Plaque Outside Royal Westminster Regiment Armoury, New Westminster

Image from The Royal Westminster Regiment Museum activity in Things to do in New Westminster

The Royal Westminster Regiment has served the British Commonwealth for over a century and in its illustrious history two of its soldiers have been awarded the highest military decoration - the Victoria Cross.

The Victoria Cross is one of the highest military decoration awarded for valour "in the face of the enemy". Awarded to members of the armed forces in the Commonwealth countries, only two have been awarded in the history of The Royal Westminster Regiment, John Keefer Mahony and Filip Konowal, both whom are honoured on a plaque outside of the armoury.
