The Fisherman's Wharf in Steveston, British Columbia is composed of several fishing boats selling seafood to tourists and visitors.
With the closure of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in the 1970s, the residents of the area accessed the Steveston Wharf to get freshly caught seafood from a local source, however, with the reopening of the National Historic Sites and the popularization of the area led to an official creation of a Public Fish Sales Float in 1989 - now known as the Fisherman's Wharf.
Selling a variety of foodstuffs, the Fisherman's Wharf sells Prawns, Fish (including flounder and dogfish as a few of the varieties) and Crabs. Visitors to the Wharf can see locals and visitors to the village perusing through the different boats looking for the freshest ingredients for their dinners or talking to sellers about their wares.
One of the most interesting things about the Fisherman's Wharf are the dozens of boats that make up the float complete with all their equipment, giving visitors a look at the means by which they catch the fish, crabs and shrimp.
Come to Fisherman's Wharf to enjoy a leisurely stroll alongside Steveston's famed fishing fleet and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of this Historic Canning Village which continues to be true to its roots.
